Angels’ win streak ends
The Los Angeles Angels had their six-game win streak come to an end on Sunday in a 7-5 loss at Minnesota. Still, the Angels are playing pretty good baseball as of late. Los Angeles is now 37-29 overall and 20-11 on the road. The Angels are averaging 4.53 runs per game on offense while allowing 3.98 per contest.
Andrew Heaney is getting the start for the Angels today. He is 3-4 through 10 starts with a 3.12 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. Heaney has pitched a total of 60.2 innings this season and has 58 strikeouts with 19 walks. He is coming off a complete game shutout of the Royals last week.
Mariners staying atop AL West
The Mariners are tied for first in the AL West with the Houston Astros thanks to a strong month of baseball. They are coming off winning three of four at Tampa this past weekend. Seattle is now 41-24 on the season and 20-12 at home. The Mariners are putting up 4.37 runs per game this season while allowing 4.06 per contest.
Wade LeBlanc will be starting for the Mariners tonight. He is making his eighth start and 13th appearance of 2018. LeBlanc has just a 1-0 record with a 2.94 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He has 38 strikeouts and 12 walks over 49 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are 6-2 in their last 8 games following a loss and 15-6 in their last 21 division games. However, they have lost five of their last six against a left-handed starter.
Seattle
The Mariners have won four straight at home and six straight series openers. They also are 12-4 in their last 16 games following a win.
Prediction:
Both teams are playing well right now, but Los Angeles has struggled against left-handed pitching and I think that will be the key in tonight’s contest. LeBlanc should be able to have some success against this lineup that has torn up right-handed pitching. Seattle is playing some of the best baseball right now, which is surprising considering they lost Robinson Cano to suspension. I like the Mariners at home.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners -105
