Red Sox drop finale at White Sox
Rick Porcello allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with five strikeouts and three walks over six innings to take the loss Sunday afternoon in a 5-2 home defeat against the White Sox. Andrew Benintendi and J.D. Martinez both went 1-for-4 with a double plus a run scored to lead the offense. Rafael Devers went 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base.
Orioles hammered in Toronto
Baltimore was swept in a four-game series at the Blue Jays over the weekend, dropping Sunday’s finale by a count of 13-3. The Orioles actually scored first in the game as they took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second before allowing 13 straight runs. Trey Mancini paced the offense as he went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double. Jonathan Schoop also contributed a solo home run. Alex Cobb took the loss as he was hammered for nine earned runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts and one walk over 3 2/3 innings. His ERA rose to 7.24.
Steven Wright (2-0, 1.57 ERA) will get the start today for Boston, while Baltimore turns to Dylan Bundy (4-7, 4.04).
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The over is 8-1-2 in the last 11 Red Sox games on Monday. Boston is 21-10 in its last 31 road games.
Baltimore
The Orioles are 1-7 in their last eight Monday games. Baltimore is 23-64 in its last 87 games overall.
Prediction:
The line on this game seems like it should be tilted more in Boston’s favor. The Orioles will send the better pitcher to the mound in Bundy, but he’s gotten hit hard a few times this year and the Red Sox are good enough to get to any pitcher even with Mookie Betts out. Wright pitched very well his last start and I believe there is a good chance it will continue, although the knuckleball is difficult to predict. Go with the much better team here.
