White Sox end their skid
Chicago ended its three-game losing streak on Saturday when it picked up a 2-0 win at Kansas City. The White Sox are 30-33 on the season, 13-19 on the road and 33-29 with the under. Chicago has Reynaldo Lopez taking the mound today. He is 3-6 on the season with a 6.62 ERA.
The White Sox had Lucas Giolito improve to 9-1 on the year on Saturday with a dominant showing on the mound. He pitched 7.2 innings and allowed just three hits with 11 strikeouts. Alex Colome pitched a perfect ninth to get his 13th save of the season. At the plate, Eloy Jimenez drove in both Chicago runs with his seventh home run of the season.
Royals shutout again
Kansas City has won just one of its last eight and the Royals have been shutout twice in their last four games following Saturday’s loss. The Royals are 20-44 on the season, 12-21 at home and 32-28 with the over. KC has Glenn Sparkman getting the start today. He is 1-1 on the year with a 3.77 ERA.
Brad Keller had a solid start on Saturday, but the Royals didn’t provide him with any run support. He threw eight innings and allowed just two runs on five hits. Keller is now just 3-8 on the season. The Royals had just three hits in the game, with Whit Merrifield grabbing two of them.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are just 1-6 in their last seven road games, but they have won seven of their last nine AL Central contests.
Kansas City
The Royals are 2-8 in their last 10 home games and 6-22 in their last 28 Sunday games.
Prediction:
The Sox have taken seven of the last nine against the Royals in this series, with pitching leading the way in most of the wins. Problem is for Chicago, Lopez isn’t a great arm. He has allowed 19 earned runs over his last 13.1 innings, including five in 5.2 innings to Kansas City. Sparkman has been mostly a reliever, and he has been rocked by Chicago already this year, but I feel good about the Royals today. Kansas City just needs its hitting help and I think it will come today against Lopez, who looks lost on the mound right now.
MLB Prediction: Kansas City Royals -130
