Angels’ Richards dominates Rangers over seven innings
Garrett Richards was nearly lights out Saturday against the Rangers, striking out nine while allowing only an unearned run over seven innings in a no-decision. Richards gave up one hit and issued just one walk over his seven innings in what was his best start of the year to date. Unfortunately, he wasn’t rewarded for his brilliance, as the Russian roulette that is the Angels’ closer situation blew the save in the ninth inning. Through 12 starts, the 30-year-old has a 3.25 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 69 strikeouts in 61 innings of work. Richards will look to carry over Saturday’s momentum when he takes on the Twins on Friday.
Lynn allows one run over six innings to beat Indians
Lance Lynn let in only one run over six innings and earned a win against the Indians on Saturday. He played with fire a little by issuing five walks but also whiffed five batters and allowed just two base hits in the quality start. The only run he allowed came on a strikeout — Greg Allen dashed home from third when the ball got past the catcher in the second inning. Lynn was simply awful in April but has rebounded in May and now June. He improves to 4-4 with a 5.46 ERA in 11 starts. He will try to stay in a groove when he faces the Angels on Friday.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Angels are 1-6 in their last seven games played in Minnesota.
Minnesota
The Twins are 5-1 in Lynn’s last six starts and are 5-2 in their last seven games overall.
Prediction:
I’m going to take a flier on the Twins here. Lynn hasn’t pitched well but somehow Minnesota has won games when he pitches. The Twins have also won five of their last seven games at home, are 5-1 in their last six games against a right-handed starter, and are 4-1 in their last five home games versus an opponent with a winning record. On the other side, the Angels are 0-4 in Richards’ last four starts and are 3-7 in his last 10 road outings when he pitches against an opponent with a losing record.
The Pick: Minnesota Twins +105
