Braves’ McCarthy strikes out seven, allows two runs vs. Nats
Brandon McCarthy allowed two runs in six innings but did not factor into the decision against the Nationals on Saturday. This one wasn’t decided until the 14th inning. McCarthy punched out seven batters without issuing a walk. He surrendered four base hits including a two-run homer by Michael Taylor in the second inning. It was a nice bounceback effort for McCarthy after getting knocked around by the Mets in his last start. The journeyman right-hander’s record holds at 5-2 with a 4.83 ERA and 1.50 WHIP after 12 starts.
Dodgers’ Buehler hit for four runs by Rockies
Walker Buehler allowed four runs on eight hits over five innings while taking a no-decision in Saturday’s win over Rockies. Buehler had worked to a 48/9 K/BB ratio over his previous 41 frames, but he was unable to induce the swing/miss in Saturday’s showdown with the Rockies, managing just two strikeouts against two walks over his five innings of work. All four of the runs on his line scored in the second inning, with Tony Walters, DJ LeMahieu and Charlie Blackmon burning him for RBI knocks to give the Rockies a 4-2 edge.
The Dodgers outscored them 10-0 the rest of the way. Buehler will bring a 2.74 ERA and 1.02 WHIP into a home start against the Braves in his next scheduled outing.
MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Braves are 2-5 in their last seven road games and have dropped six of seven played on Friday night.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 5-1 in their last six games overall and have won 13 of 16 against a team with a winning record.
Prediction:
The Dodgers feel a little inflated here but they’re hot and finally starting to fire on all cylinders. They’re 84-34 in their last 118 games coming off a win and have owned the Braves, winning 20 of 28 against Atlanta overall and 12 of the last 15 meetings at Dodgers Stadium. With their moneyline price set high, I’ll lay the 1.5 on the runline.
The Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5
