Twins lose first two
Minnesota has dropped the first two games of the series following the 9-7 loss at Cleveland on Wednesday. Minnesota is 40-20 on the season, 19-11 at home and 30-27 with the over. The Twins have Jose Berrios taking the mound today. He is 7-2 on the season with a 3.27 ERA.
The Twins got off to a 5-1 lead but couldn’t hang on to it on Wednesday. Martin Perez gave up five runs over 4.2 innings in his start. Blake Parker then gave up three runs in one inning of work later in the game to take his second loss of the season. Jorge Polanco had two hits and two RBI at the plate to lead Minnesota. Byron Buxton drove in three runs as well.
Indians trying to heat up
Cleveland has won the first two games in this series and have won three of their last four games. The Indians are 31-30 on the season, 17-14 at home and 36-24 with the under. Cleveland has Trevor Bauer getting the start today. He is 4-5 on the season with a 3.76 ERA.
The Tribe used seven different pitchers in the win. Nick Wittgren got his third win of the year with a 1-run inning on the mound. Brad Hand secured his 18th save of the season with a perfect ninth. Jordan Luplow had three hits and three RBI, while scoring twice to lead Cleveland at the plate. Jose Ramirez added two hits and three RBI while Francisco Lindor hit his 11th home run.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins are 18-4 in their last 22 Game 3’s of a series and 12-4 in their last 16 road games.
Cleveland
The Indians are 11-1 in Bauer’s last 12 Thursday starts and 51-22 in their last 73 Thursday games.
Prediction:
Berrios has good numbers, but he has given up at least three runs in four straight starts. Bauer has had the same issues as of late, giving up at least four runs in six of his last seven starts. If Cleveland isn’t able to rely on its pitching, it’s hard to imagine it can consistently win with hitting. The Tribe had to use a lot of arms on Wednesday, so they don’t have many options for today’s game. I think that will allow the Twins to avoid another loss.
MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins -105
