Martin homers in loss
Baltimore fell 2-1 in 12 innings Wednesday night to drop to 19-42 overall and 11-19 on the road. Richie Martin helped pace the Orioles offense as he finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to tie it plus two walks. Hanser Alberto went 2-for-6, while Trey Mancini was 1-for-4 plus a walk. Paul Fry took the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks over 1 2/3 innings. David Hess starts tonight for Baltimore as he enters with a 1-7 record, 7.36 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 48 strikeouts over 55 innings of work.
DeShields wins it for Rangers
An RBI single by Delino DeShields Jr. sent host Texas to a 2-1 victory in 12 innings over Baltimore Wednesday night. DeShields ended the contest 4-for-6 with a run and an RBI. Elvis Andrus finished 2-for-5 with an RBI. Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-5 with a double. Jeffrey Springs threw a perfect 12th inning in relief to notch the win. Ariel Jurado will start tonight for the Rangers as he enters with a 2-2 record, 2.43 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 22 strikeouts over 29 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are 15-41 in their last 56 games overall. Baltimore is 32-94 in its last 126 road games.
Texas
The Rangers are 5-1 in their last six during game three of a series. Texas is 8-2 in its last 10 home games.
Prediction:
Jurado was sharp in his last start and has gotten fleshed out recently, throwing 101 pitches and 94 the start before that, so he should get a full allotment here as well. But rather than betting on Jurado, I’m simply fading Hess. He is one of the worst, if not the worst, starting pitcher in baseball. The Rangers should score frequently tonight. Go with the home team.
