Cobb looks sharp in win
Baltimore starting pitcher Alex Cobb has struggled this season, but was in good form Tuesday night in a 2-1 triumph over the host Mets. Cobb allowed one earned run over on two hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over six innings to post the win. His ERA dropped to 6.19. Trey Mancini finished 2-for-4 with a run to lead the offense, while Adam Jones contributed an RBI single. Brad Brach picked up his ninth save.
Bruce has two-hit night
New York right fielder Jay Bruce hasn’t provided his usual numbers this season, but was the top Mets offensive player Tuesday night as he went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored the lone run. Jose Bautista had the RBI on a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fifth. Kevin Plawecki added a double and drew a walk. Jason Vargas allowed two earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk over five innings to take the loss.
Dylan Bundy (3-7, 4.46 ERA) starts tonight for the O’s, while Zach Wheeler (2-4, 5.14) takes the hill for the Mets.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are 3-14 in their last 17 interleague games. Baltimore is 13-38 in its last 51 road games.
New York
The Mets are 9-2 in the last 11 meetings. The under is 9-3-1 in the last 13 meetings.
Prediction:
Bundy and Wheeler both have the capabilility of being dominant, but do it with less than desirable frequency. With the Mets offense struggling so much, I’m going to put my money on Bundy to toss a gem. When he’s been on this year, Bundy can be almost unhittable. I’m going to bank on him having one of his good performances today.
