Diamondbacks’ Corbin hit hard in loss to Reds
Patrick Corbin was roughed up for eight hits and six runs over six innings Wednesday in the Diamondbacks’ loss to Cincinnati. He registered 10 strikeouts and also allowed one free pass. Corbin was handed an early 4-0 lead but it didn’t last long as Adam Duvall brought the Reds back with a game-tying grand slam in the fourth inning. The left-hander encountered more trouble in the sixth, allowing a two-run blast to Scott Schebler. Corbin got off to a brilliant start this year but has slowed down considerably over the past month, winning just one of his last seven starts. He’ll look to bounce back when he takes the mound Tuesday at San Francisco. Corbin threw a one-hit shutout the last time he faced the Giants on April 17.
Giants’ Bumgarner throws 74 pitches in final rehab start
Madison Bumgarner (finger) allowed two hits and one run over 4 2/3 innings Thursday in his rehab start for High-A San Jose. He struck out seven and didn’t walk anyone while throwing 52 of his 74 pitches for strikes. The only run he allowed came on a solo home run in the second inning. Finally healed from a broken pinkie he suffered during spring training, the former World Series MVP is on track to make his season debut Tuesday against the D’Backs.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 11-5 in their last 16 games versus the Giants but are just 1-4 in Corbin’s last five road starts versus San Francisco.
San Francisco
The Giants are 1-6 in Bumgarner’s last seven home starts versus the Diamondbacks and are winless at 0-4 in his last four outings against Arizona overall.
Prediction:
The Diamondbacks were hot offensively but the under is 4-1-1 in Bumgarner’s last six starts and 4-1 in his last five home outings. I know he hasn’t pitched this season and the Giants could take it easy with him but I expect him to pitch well for as long as he goes tonight. The Giants bullpen has also been excellent so even if Bumgarner is on a pitch count I see this game falling under the total.
MLB Prediction: Diamondbacks/Giants under 7
