Twins continue to roll
Minnesota is coming off three straight wins at Tampa this weekend. The Twins have won eight of their last 10 games. Minnesota is 40-18 on the season, 19-9 at home and 29-26 with the over. The Twins have Devin Smeltzer on the mound today. He doesn’t have anything on his record yet with a 0.00 ERA.
The Twins are leading the league on offense, as they are first in runs per game (5.98), batting average (.275), OPS (.853) and home runs (109). On the mound, Minnesota has a 3.88 team ERA and a 1.24 team WHIP. Eddie Rosario has 17 home runs and 49 RBI to lead the team while Jorge Polanco has 17 doubles, five triples, nine home runs and 30 RBI.
Indians can’t stay over .500
Cleveland is coming off three losses in four games to the White Sox on the road. They are just 3-6 in their last nine games. The Indians are 29-30 on the season, 15-14 at home and 35-23 with the under. Cleveland has Shane Bieber on the mound. He is 4-2 on the season with a 3.67 ERA.
The Tribe have a pretty solid pitching staff. They have a 3.96 team ERA and a 1.25 team WHIP. Offensively, Cleveland hasn’t been very good. The Indians average 3.97 runs per game while hitting just .226. Carlos Santana is leading the team with 11 doubles, 11 home runs and 37 RBI. Jose Ramirez is adding 11 doubles, four home runs and 17 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins are 13-3 in their last 16 road games and 21-5 in their last 26 division games.
Cleveland
The Indians are 1-6 in their last seven home games and 4-9 in their last 13 AL Central games.
Prediction:
Smeltzer has one outing this year against Milwaukee, where he pitched six scoreless innings. He struck out seven and walked none. Bieber is coming off a poor outing at Boston and he has given up multiple runs in five of his last eight outings. Given his struggles lately, and the lack of hitting from Cleveland on most nights, I think that the Twins will continue their strong play.
MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins +110
