Dodgers take opener
Los Angeles opened up the series with Arizona with a 3-1 road win on Monday night. L.A. has now won six straight games. The Dodgers are 42-19 on the season, 17-12 on the road and 31-27 with the over. Los Angeles has Hyun-Jin Ryu on the mound today. He is 8-1 on the season with a 1.48 ERA.
The Dodgers got an outstanding start from Walker Buehler on Monday. He pitched eight innings and allowed just two hits and one run. He struck out 11 with no walks to move to 6-1 on the season. Kenley Jansen earned his 18th save of the season with a scoreless ninth. Corey Seager drove in all three runs with a home run in the fourth inning.
Diamondbacks drop another
Arizona dropped another game on Monday, as they have lost six of their last eight after the loss to the Dodgers. Arizona is 30-31 on the season, 13-15 at home and 29-29 with the over/under total. The Diamondbacks have Taylor Clarke taking the mound today. He is 1-1 on the season and has a 4.67 ERA.
Robbie Ray had a pretty good start on Monday, giving up just three runs over seven innings with nine strikeouts and one walk. He took the loss to fall to 4-3 on the year. Arizona had just three hits at the plate and Christian Walker drove in the lone run for the D’Backs on his 11th home run of the year.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers have won four straight road games and 42 of their last 57 games against a right-handed starter.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks have lost eight of their last 10 following a loss and five straight against NL West opponents.
Prediction:
Ryu is just rolling along and putting up a Cy Young season thus far. He has allowed just two runs or less in all of his starts this season. He only has five walks through 73 innings to go with 69 strikeouts. Clarke just doesn’t have the same skills. He has been okay, but not pitching at Ryu’s level. I think Los Angeles won’t need many runs to win, but I think that they can get them anyway. I would feel safe going with the run line.
MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-135)
