Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers, the Yankees are favored in tonight’s clash, as they are getting odds of -190 to win. The Tigers are listed with a money line of +170 to prevail, while the over/under total has been set at 9.5 runs. The public betting for this game has 69 percent going on New York on the road. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Yankees on a win streak
The Yankees come into today’s doubleheader with a 4-game win streak. That has improved their overall record to 37-17. The Yankees also come into today at 15-8 on the road. New York is putting up 5.65 runs per game this season while allowing 4.24 per contest.
Domingo German gets the start for the Tigers on Monday night. He has started four games and appeared in a total of nine. He has a 5.45 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP this season. Pitching a total of 34.2 innings, German has 41 strikeouts with 17 walks.
Tigers trying to find consistency
The Tigers had their 4-game win streak ended on Sunday in an 8-4 loss at home to Toronto. Despite playing well as of late, the Tigers can’t seem to get to the .500 mark. Detroit is now 28-31 overall and 19-13 at home. The Tigers are putting up 4.34 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.59 per contest.
Mike Fiers is getting the start for the Tigers this evening. He has started 10 games this season and has a 4-3 record with a 4.45 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. Fiers has pitched a total of 54.2 innings this season and has 36 strikeouts with 11 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees have won 12 of their last 16 road games coming into Monday and they have also won 22 of their last 29 against AL Central opponents.
Detroit
The Tigers have lost six straight doubleheader finales and they also have lost 11 of their last 15 Monday games. They have won Fiers’ last four home starts.
Prediction:
The Yankees were able to chase Detroit’s starter quickly in the first game, so that doesn’t help the Tigers’ chances in this one. Their bullpen is already shaky as is and now will be short-handed for this evening game. The Yankees also have the better lineup on paper. While Fiers has had some decent starts, I feel like New York is just too much better to come up short in this one.
The Pick: New York Yankees -190
