Royals shut down by A's
Kansas City only mustered three hits Sunday afternoon to wrap up its home series against Oakland with a 5-1 loss. Jon Jay hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third to tie the score at 1-1, where it remained until the eighth inning when the Athletics put up a four-spot. Jorge Soler went 1-for-4 with a double, while Alcides Escobar finished 1-for-3. Jake Junis took the loss as he gave up three earned runs on six hits over 7 1/3 innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Skaggs guides Angels to win
Los Angeles left-handed starter Tyler Skaggs threw six shutout innings in Sunday's 3-1 home win over the Rangers. He gave up four hits while striking out six and walking three. Skaggs' ERA improved to 3.27. Luis Valbuena put the hosts ahead with a two-run single in the bottom of the second inning. Justin Upton added an insurance solo home run in the sixth to make it 3-0. Shohei Ohtani and Zack Cozart each went 1-for-3 and scored a run for the Angels.
MLB Betting Trends
The over is 7-3 in the Royals' last 10 Monday games. Kansas City is 3-10 in Duffy's last 13 starts.
The Angels are 2-6 in their last eight home games. The under is 19-7-1 in Los Angeles' last 27 games on Monday.
You have to take some chances in the betting world. Even though Tropeano had one of his best starts of the season in April against the Royals, they'll have a better scouting report on him this time. And Duffy is showing some signs of returning to form. Kansas City has a poor offense, but as long as Duffy can take advantage of the Angels' recent struggles offensively, there is a decent chance at an upset here.
