Tyler Naquin ripped a two-run homer and added a walk Tuesday versus the Phillies. Naquin took Aaron Nola deep in the second inning to get the scoring going in this one. The lead would be short-lived, though, as the Phillies ultimately finished with seven home runs and 17 runs on the night. Naquin has predictably cooled off following a scorching start, but he’s been hitting in the middle of the lineup still and has driven in 13 runs over his last 16 contests.
St. Louis Cardinals DFS Spin
Paul Goldschmidt went 1-for-2 with a home run against the Dodgers on Wednesday. Goldschmidt homered off of Walker Buehler in the first inning, a 106.2 mile per hour blast to put the Cardinals up 1-0 early on. The Dodgers would go on to score 11 runs in the bottom of the first and Goldschmidt was removed along with other starters as the game got out of reach. The 33-year-old first baseman is slashing 242/.306/.398 with seven homers, 29 RBI, and three steals over 232 plate appearances. Despite the underwhelming line, he’s hitting the ball hard at a higher rate than ever with a 50.6 percent hard-hit rate. The batted ball quality gives him a .266 expected batting average and .500 expected slugging. So more power from the slugger could be on the way.
Reds vs. Cardinals Betting Prediction
The Reds are just 1-7 in their last eight games when facing an opponent with a winning record and have dropped four of their last five games against National League Central foes. The Cardinals, meanwhile, are 11-3 in their last 14 divisional games, are 8-1 in their last nine games when facing an opponent with a losing record and are 5-1 in their last six games as a home favorite.
