Phillies fall on walk-off homer
Philadelphia lost by a count of 4-3 Saturday night at Los Angeles as a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth broke a tie. Bryce Harper helped the lead Phillies offensively as he went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Scott Kingery was 2-for-4 with a double. J.T. Realmuto was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Hector Neris took the loss for Philadelphia as he allowed one earned run on one hit with no strikeouts or walks in one-third of an inning. Nick Pivetta will start tonight as he enters with a 3-1 record, 7.71 ERA and 1.89 WHIP with 22 strikeouts over 23 1/3 innings.
Smith hits game-winning homer
Los Angeles rookie Will Smith hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday night to send Los Angeles to a 4-3 home win over Philadelphia. Smith finished the contest 1-for-3 with the home run plus a walk. Max Muncy finished 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. David Freese was 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Enrique Hernandez was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Julio Urias earned the win in relief as he allowed two earned runs on one hit with one strikeout and no walks over two innings. Rich Hill will start tonight for the Dodgers as he comes in with a 1-1 record, 2.73 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 37 strikeouts over 33 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 8-2 in their last 10 Sunday games. Philadelphia is 0-4 in the last Pivetta starts on the road.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 39-18 in their last 57 Sunday games. Los Angeles is 37-17 in its last 54 games overall.
Prediction:
Pivetta has struggled at the MLB level this season and life won’t be easy against an LA lineup that has hardly any flaws. The depth is there for matchups and I don’t trust Pivetta to limit the damage, especially when Hill is in good form on the other side.
