Tigers end winning streak
Detroit was on a three-game winning streak coming into Saturday, but the Tigers saw that come to an end in a 10-5 loss. The Tigers are now 22-33 on the season, 13-16 on the road and 30-22 with the under. Matthew Boyd gets the start for the Tigers today. He is 5-4 on the season with a 2.85 ERA.
The Tigers actually continued their recent hitting surge on Saturday with 11, but their pitching didn’t help them out any. Daniel Norris gave up six runs in 5.1 innings and Daniel Stumpf closed the door on a comeback by giving up three runs in the eighth inning. Niko Goodrum continued his strong series with a double, a triple and a RBI. Christin Stewart drove in two runs as well.
Braves end skid
Atlanta put an end to a brief 3-game losing streak on Saturday in the win over the Tigers. The Braves are 31-27 on the season, 15-15 at home and 29-26 with the over. Atlanta has Julio Teheran getting the start today. He is 3-4 on the season with a 3.53 ERA.
It took a few innings, but Atlanta got the bats going against the Tigers and didn’t look back. Freddie Freeman, Dansby Swanson and Austin Riley each homered in the win. They also all drove in two runs while Ronald Acuna Jr. had two hits and drove in three. Mike Soroka got the win on the mound, his sixth of the year. He struck out five and allowed three earned runs in 6.2 innings. Luke Jackson recorded the final five outs on five strikeouts to get his eighth save of the year.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are just 17-37 in their last 54 interleague games and 4-13 in their last 17 games overall.
Atlanta
The Braves are 26-9 in their last 35 Sunday games and 4-1 in their last five Game 3’s of a series.
Prediction:
Teheran has been pitching pretty well over recent weeks, allowing just three earned runs total over his last five starts. Atlanta is 4-1 in those five games. Today he faces a Detroit team that “usually” is pretty poor at the plate. Matthew Boyd is coming off back-to-back scoreless starts, but I just can’t trust him to get much run support. Even if Detroit does continue to hit well, the Tigers bullpen isn’t to be trusted either.
MLB Prediction: Atlanta Braves -165
