Tigers on a win streak
Detroit has won three straight games following the 8-2 win over the Braves on Friday evening. The Tigers are 22-32 on the season, 13-15 on the road and 30-21 with the under. Daniel Norris is getting the start today. He is 2-3 on the season with a 4.18 ERA.
One of the worst-hitting teams in the league put up eight runs on 11 hits Friday. Niko Goodrum led the way with five hits, three RBI and four runs scored. That included two home runs while Nicholas Castellanos also hit a home run, his team-leading sixth of the year. He finished with two RBI. Spencer Turnbull got the win on the mound. He is now 3-4 on the year and allowed just one earned run over six innings.
Braves lose third straight
Atlanta has dropped a third straight game coming into today following the 8-2 loss to the Tigers at home. The Braves are 30-27 on the season, 14-15 at home and 28-26 with the over. Atlanta has Mike Soroka on the mound today. He is 5-1 on the season with a 1.07 ERA.
Atlanta never got off to a real start on Friday. Mike Foltynewicz took the loss, as he allowed five earned runs over five innings. He had eight strikeouts, but allowed three home runs. Foltynewicz is now 1-4 on the season. Ronald Acuna Jr. led Atlanta at the plate with two hits.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are just 8-20 in their last 28 interleague road games and 17-36 in their last 53 interleague games overall.
Atlanta
The Braves are just 2-6 in their last eight interleague games and 1-7 in their last eight home games against a team with a losing record.
Prediction:
Soroka has been lights out this year, not allowing more than one earned run in any of the eight starts this season. Now he gets to face one of the worst-hitting teams in the league this afternoon. Norris has pitched pretty well for Detroit this year, but he won’t get much run support today and his bullpen is a mess. I think the Braves should bounce back with a multi-run victory today.
MLB Prediction: Atlanta Braves -1.5 (-120)
