Miami Marlins Fantasy Spin
Brian Anderson went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in the loss to the Giants on Thursday. Anderson has fanned 50 times in 53 games this season, and his strikeout rate has jumped from 19 percent in his first full season last year to 22 percent this season. He’s hitting the ball harder when he does make contact and he’ll probably finish with a few more homers as a result, but this is still a worse player than the one who was such a pleasant surprise in 2018.
San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Wil Myers singled Wednesday in a 7-0 loss to New York. The former AL Rookie of the Year broke up the Yankees’ no-hit bid by stroking an opposite-field single to lead off the sixth inning. It would have been a tough play for DJ LeMahieu, but the three-time Gold Glove winner probably should have caught it. He also added a stolen base, his fifth of the year, in the losing effort. Myers’ two punch-outs Wednesday raised his season strikeout total to 70, fourth-most in the majors behind only Bryce Harper, Javier Baez and Joey Gallo.
