Diamondbacks edged again
Arizona lost for the third straight night to the Rockies on Wednesday, this time by a score of 5-4. The Diamondbacks are 28-28 on the season, 17-15 on the road and 27-27 with the over/under total. Arizona has Taylor Clarke getting the start today. He is 1-1 on the season with a 2.93 ERA.
Arizona tried grinding out a win on Wednesday, but just came up short. Robbie Ray gave up all five runs to Colorado in just 4.2 innings of work. He walked four and struck out six. He took the loss and fell to 4-2 on the season. Carson Kelly had three hits and drove in two runs to lead Arizona at the plate while Adam Jones connected on his 11th home run of the season.
Rockies get to .500
Colorado is at the .500 mark following a 4-game winning streak after Wednesday’s victory. The Rockies are 27-27 on the season, 14-12 at home and 29-23 with the over. Colorado has Kyle Freeland taking the mound today. He is 2-6 on the season with a 6.71 ERA.
The Rockies continued their success thanks to some key relief innings form their pitchers. Jeff Hoffman got the win by pitching five innings and allowing three runs while Scott Oberg earned his first save of the season with a hitless ninth. Brendan Rodgers led the way by driving in two runs at the plate while Trevor Story had three hits.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are just 4-9 in their last 13 road games and 1-6 in their last seven following a loss.
Colorado
The Rockies have won four straight home games and eight of their last Game 4’s in a series.
Prediction:
The Rockies are rolling along right now, but have a challenge on their hand with Freeland pitching for them today. He’s really struggling, allowing at least three runs in six straight starts, including five or more in four of them. Clarke has had limited outings, but they have been stronger on average compared to Freeland. Arizona has been competitive in this series, just haven’t been able to get those key hits late. I think they can jump on Freeland early and then hold off Colorado in the later stages of the game to avoid being swept.
MLB Prediction: Arizona Diamondbacks +140
