Jays drop another
Toronto suffered a second straight loss on Tuesday night, 3-1, at Tampa. The Jays have lost six of their last seven games. Toronto is 21-34 on the year, 11-16 on the road and 29-25 with the under. Trent Thornton takes the mound for the Blue Jays this evening. He is 1-4 on the season with a 4.42 ERA.
Clayton Richard lasted just four innings on the mound for Toronto on Tuesday, allowing two runs on just three hits. He walked four while striking out three. Toronto finished the game with six hits, with just two being extra bases. Justin Smoak led the Jays with two hits while Brandon Drury drove in the lone run.
Rays win four straight
Tampa Bay has won four straight and six of its last seven games thanks to the 3-1 win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Tampa is 33-19 on the season, 15-11 at home and 28-22 with the under. The Rays have Blake Snell on the mound this evening. He is 3-4 on the season with a 3.07 ERA.
Tampa used impressive pitching to get the win on Tuesday. Ryne Stanek started the game and pitched two scoreless innings. Ryan Yarbrough got the win by pitching 3.2 innings of scoreless ball. MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 9-28 in their last 37 Wednesday games and 4-10 in their last 14 road games.
Tampa
The Rays are 54-25 in their last 79 home games and 39-18 in their last 57 home games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Rays have been able to really lock down the Toronto hitters thus far in the series and I would expect more of the same today. Blake Snell is rolling along, giving up just four runs over his last four starts. He has 78 strikeouts and 15 walks over 10 starts. Thornton hasn’t been awful for the Jays, but I don’t think he can pitch well enough to overcome the lack of run support he is likely to get today. The Jays just aren’t producing at the plate and they are facing another good arm today.
MLB Prediction: Tampa Bay Rays -220
