Pittsburgh Pirates Fantasy Spin
Kevin Newman clubbed a grand slam for his first major league home run in Tuesday's loss to the Reds. The Pirates were shut out for the first seven innings, but they loaded the bases on a couple singles and a hit by pitch in the eighth and Newman put one over the right-center field wall. Newman has posted an .886 OPS while playing all over the infield, but he's offered very little in the way of counting stats (until tonight, anyway).
Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Yasiel Puig made an early exit from Tuesday night's win over the Pirates due to a cramp. Cincinnati was up 8-0 on Pittsburgh at the time of Puig's removal, so it was really more precautionary than anything. Reds manager David Bell said Puig should be available for Wednesday afternoon's series finale.
MLB Betting Trends
The Pirates have now dropped five of their last six games overall.
The Reds are still just 19-38 in their last 57 divisional games despite winning on Tuesday night.
The Reds are just 1-5 in DeSclafani’s last six starts versus the Pirates and have dropped five of his last six outings at home. The Pirates, meanwhile, are 9-3 in Brault’s last 12 starts and have won seven of his last eight outings when he faces opponents from the National League Central.
