Royals drop pair of games
Kansas City lost 2-1 to the White Sox in the conclusion of Monday’s suspended game Tuesday, while it squandered a three-run first-inning lead in the regularly schedule game and fell 4-3. Alex Gordon was 1-for-4 with a 3-run home run to pace the Royals offense. Whit Merrifield was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Cam Gallagher ended the contest 1-for-3. Brad Keller suffered the loss as he surrendered four earned runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Glenn Sparkman will start tonight for KC as he enters with a 1-1 record, 2.92 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 24 2/3 innings.
White Sox win one-run contests
After picking up a 2-1 victory in the conclusion of a suspended game versus Kansas City, Chicago proceeded to overcome a three-run deficit Tuesday night to earn a 4-3 victory. The White Sox scored three in the bottom of the third to tie it and one in the fourth inning to take the lead. Leury Garcia helped pace the offense as he went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. James McCann was 3-for-4 and scored a run. Jose Rondon finished 2-for-4 and scored a run. Charlie Tilson was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Lucas Giolito was outstanding as he rebounded from the three-run first to throw eight innings of three-hit ball with 10 strikeouts and one walk. Alex Colome picked up the save as he threw a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts. Reynaldo Lopez will start tonight for the White Sox as he comes in with a 3-5 record, 6.03 ERA, 1.56 WHIP with 57 strikeouts over 59 2/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals are 16-36 in their last 52 games overall. Kansas City is 14-38 in its last 52 road games.
Chicago
The White Sox are 1-4 in the last five Lopez starts. Chicago is 7-2 in the last nine Lopez starts versus KC.
Prediction:
As bad as Lopez has been this season, he’s had a few gems and has had success in the past versus the Royals. Sparkman doesn’t exactly strike fear and I’d rather take a team that is playing .500 ball at home over one that is 7-19 on the road without one of its better starting pitchers on the mound.
