Indians rally for win
Cleveland scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday night to overcome a three-run deficit in a 7-5 victory at Boston. Roberto Perez contributed to the rally as his only hit in five at-bats was a solo home run in the ninth. Greg Allen finished 1-for-3 with a ninth-inning home run, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Jose Ramirez went 2-for-3 with two walks. Francisco Lindor ended the night 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, a run and two RBIs. Nick Wittgren picked up the win in relief despite giving up two earned runs on three hits with no strikeouts or walks over one inning of work. Shane Bieber will draw the start tonight for the Indians as he enters with a 3-2 record, 3,11 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 79 strikeouts over 63 2/3 innings.
Bullpen blows it in ninth
The Boston relief corps gave up five runs in the ninth inning Tuesday night in a 7-5 home defeat against Cleveland. Travis Lakins suffered the loss as he surrendered two earned runs on one hit with no strikeouts and three walks over one inning. Rafael Devers helped pace the offense as he was 2-for-5 with a triple and a run scored. Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI. J.D. Martinez ended the contest 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a run. Ryan Weber starts tonight for the Red Sox as he comes in with a 1-0 record, 1.29 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with 11 strikeouts over 14 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians are 21-8 in their last 29 Wednesday games. Cleveland is 4-0 in the last four Bieber starts on Wednesdays.
Boston
The Red Sox are 18-9 in their last 27 games overall. Boston is 4-1 in its last four games versus the AL Central.
Prediction:
Bieber has been fantastic his last two starts, giving up only one earned run over a total of 14 innings with a whopping 25 strikeouts. I trust him a lot more than Weber, who has pitched well but in a small sample size. While the home-field advantage favors the Red Sox and they have a potent lineup, their bullpen is in full struggle mode and someone is going to need to pitch the latter innings. I like Bieber to keep Cleveland right in it with its offense providing the run support to notch another road win.
