Jays unable to sustain winning
Following a 10-1 win at home over San Diego on Sunday, Toronto was unable to get back-to-back wins in an 8-3 loss at Tampa on Monday. The Jays are just 1-5 in their last six games. Toronto is 21-33 on the year, 11-15 on the road and 28-25 with the under. Clayton Richard gets the start for the Jays tonight. He is 0-0 on the season with a 2.25 ERA.
The Jays couldn’t get started on Monday, falling behind early before mustering a few runs late in the game. Toronto had two errors and finished with just four hits. Aaron Sanchez took the loss by giving up one run on six hits over three innings. He is now 3-5 on the season. Jonathan Davis drove in two runs for the Blue Jays in the loss while Freddy Galvis had one hit, a RBI and scored two runs.
Tampa picking up steam
The Rays are on a three-game win streak now following the victory over the Blue Jays on Monday. They have won five of their last six games. Tampa is 21-33 on the season, 14-11 at home and 27-22 with the under. The Rays have Ryne Stanek on the mound tonight. He is 0-1 on the year with a 3.18 ERA.
Yonny Chirinos earned his sixth win of the season on Monday, pitching five hitless innings with two walks and seven strikeouts. Austin Meadows had a home run, three hits and drove in three runs. Travis d’Arnaud added three hits and scored three runs for the Rays while Daniel Robertson drove in two.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are just 4-9 in their last 13 road games and 2-6 in their last eight Game 2’s of a series.
Tampa
The Rays are 6-1 in their last seven Tuesday games and 17-5 in Stanek’s last 22 home starts.
Prediction:
The Rays have won three of four meetings with the Blue Jays this season and five of the last six in this series, dating back to last year. The Rays have also won Stanek’s last three starts, as he has pitched four scoreless innings to get them started. Richard has made just one start, pitching four innings and allowing one run to Boston. Richard may be able to pitch well for Toronto early, but I don’t trust the Jays bullpen and their lackluster hitting.
MLB Prediction: Tampa Bay Rays -185
