Brewers edge Twins
Milwaukee took Monday’s series opener, 5-4, on the road to pick up consecutive wins for the first time in weeks. Milwaukee is 31-24 on the season, 13-13 on the road and 31-23 with the under. Zach Davies is getting the start for the Brewers today. He is 5-0 on the season with a 2.43 ERA.
Milwaukee was able to overcome a 4-0 deficit on Monday thanks to two runs in the top of the eighth. Orlando Arcia had a two-run home run to give Milwaukee the lead. He finished the game with two hits, three RBI and two runs scored. Gio Gonzalez got the start and lasted just 4.2 innings, giving up four runs. Corbin Burnes got the win in relief while Josh Hader pitched the final two innings to record his 13th save.
Twins end win streak
Minnesota had its six-game winning streak come to an end on Monday in the 5-4 loss at home to Milwaukee. Minnesota is now 36-17 on the season, 18-9 at home and 27-25 with the over. The Twins have Martin Perez on the mound today. He is 7-1 on the year with a 2.95 ERA.
Minnesota got four runs in the second inning, but couldn’t quite grab the win. Byron Buxton had a three-run home run to lead the team at the plate. Michael Pineda got the start on the mound and pitched six innings, allowing three runs. Taylor Rogers blew the save in the eighth, taking his first loss of the year.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers have won seven straight against AL Central opponents and they have won seven of their last 10 interleague games.
Minnesota
The Twins are 19-7 in their last 26 games following a loss, but just 5-13 in their last 18 interleague games.
Prediction:
The Brewers have won six of their last seven games against the Twins, dating back to last season. Daviez is coming off a poor start that Milwaukee still managed to win. He had a 1.54 ERA through nine starts prior to that outing. Perez has been solid as well, with the Twins winning six of his last seven starts. Minnesota still has the most powerful lineup in the league and I think that will play out at home at some point in this series. Milwaukee managed the win on Monday, but that was through grinding out the game. The Twins don’t need to grind, as they can pop off for four runs in an inning.
MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins -140
