Giants’ Suarez struggles in loss to Astros
Andrew Suarez was hit hard in Tuesday’s loss to the Astros, giving up five runs on seven hits over four innings. Suarez also issued a pair of walks in this one while striking out only two. The Astros broke the game open with three runs against him in the third inning, then tacked on another pair in the fourth. It marked the second straight rough outing for the right-hander who now owns a troublesome 5.68 ERA and 1.39 WHIP. Should he be afforded another trip through the rotation, he’ll take on the Rockies at Coors Field on Monday.
Rockies’ Bettis settles down in no decision vs. Dodgers
Chad Bettis gave up two runs over five innings with four strikeouts in a no decision against the Dodgers on Tuesday. Bettis really struggled in the first inning, giving up an RBI single to Matt Kemp and then walking in a run when he gave Yasiel Puig a free pass. Over his final four innings he was excellent, and he kept the Rockies in the game. Bettis needs a quality defense behind him, but he does possess a 3.30 ERA on the season along with a 1.20 WHIP. We’ll see him back on the mound on Monday against the Giants.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants have won five of their last seven games against the Rockies but are just 1-10 in their last 11 games at Coors Field.
Colorado
The Rockies are 5-2 in Bettis’ last seven starts versus the Giants.
Prediction:
The Giants are a mess right now. They just lost two of three to the Cubs at Wrigley Field and Buster Posey is out with a hip injury. After playing last night, they had to hop a flight from Chicago to Denver and will turn around and play again tonight having lost seven of their last 10 games. Suarez did show some promise early but has been roughed up lately. A game at Coors Field doesn’t help matters.
The Pick: Colorado Rockies -120
