Mariners drop another
Seattle has lost four straight games and seven of their last eight following a 6-2 loss at Oakland on Friday night. The Mariners are 23-30 on the season, 13-16 on the road and 34-17 with the over. Seattle has Yusei Kikuchi on the mound tonight. He is 3-1 on the season with a 3.43 ERA.
The Mariners actually had a 10-8 advantage in hits in Friday’s game, but Seattle stranded 15 runners in the loss. Domingo Santana had three hits and a RBI to lead the Mariners while Tim Beckham had two hits and a RBI. Wade LeBlanc took the loss, his second of the year, as he allowed four runs over five innings.
Athletics up to seven straight
Oakland has increased its winning streak to seven games following Friday’s win. All seven of the Athletics’ wins have been by multiple runs. Oakland is now 26-25 on the season, 15-10 at home and 27-24 with the under. The Athletics have Mike Fiers taking the mound today. He is 3-3 on the season with a 5.05 ERA.
The Athletics put up four runs in the fourth inning to help them get the win on Friday. Matt Olson had a three-run home run to get Oakland on the board and that was followed up by a solo home run from Mark Canha. Stephen Piscotty had three hits and scored two runs in the win as well. Daniel Mengden got the start for Oakland. He pitched four innings and allowed a run, but walked five. Lou Trivino got the win in relief, his second win of the season.
MLB Betting Trends
Seattle
The Mariners are 7-22 in their last 29 games overall and 2-15 in their last 17 road games.
Oakland
The Athletics are 47-21 in their last 68 home games and 9-2 in Fiers’ last 11 home starts.
Prediction:
Fiers has been a little touchy this season, but has given up just nine earned runs over his last five starts, a total of 32 innings. Kikuchi has been pretty good in his own right, allowing just six earned runs over his last 26.2 innings. My concern is that Seattle just is in a major funk of finding ways to lose. They couldn’t come through with the big hit on Friday and the bullpen is suspect. Oakland is hot and playing with a lot of confidence and they are at home. I am going to continue to ride them while they keep winning.
MLB Prediction: Oakland Athletics -120
