Arizona Diamondbacks Fantasy Spin
Ildemaro Vargas went 5-for-6 with a homer and three runs scored as the Diamondbacks crushed the Giants 18-2 on Friday. The Diamondbacks scored in the first seven innings of the game before shutting it down. Vargas, who was making his second appearance since his most recent callup, busted out after coming into this one with a .186/.186/.288 line in 59 at-bats. It was a good enough showing to raise his average by 60 points. Still, there’s a good chance he’ll be right back on the bench Saturday.
San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Mac Williamson followed up Thursday’s five-strikeout game by going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Friday. After an outstanding month in Triple-A, Williamson joined the Giants on May 7 and had a homer, a single and a walk in his 2019 debut against the Rockies. Since that day, he’s 4-for-43 with one extra-base hit, one run scored and an 18/4 K/BB ratio. He’ll likely turn it around some if the team sticks with him, but the Giants would have been better off keeping Aaron Altherr over him
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 1-5 in their last six games overall.
San Francisco
The Giants have lost 36 of their last 51 games when facing an opponent with a winning record.
Prediction:
The Giants have been terrible for three seasons now and have been unprofitable when Andrew Suarez starts. They’re 1-4 in their last five games overall, are 1-4 in their last five home games and 1-5 in Suarez’s last six starts. They’re also 0-5 in Suarez’s last five starts versus a team with a winning record and are 1-5 in his last six outings after allowing five runs or more in their previous contest.
The Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks +108
