Royals on a win streak
Kansas City won the series opener on Thursday, 8-2. That gave the Royals three straight wins, all of which have come on the road. Kansas City is 17-33 overall and 10-15 on the road. KC is now averaging 4.00 runs per game while allowing 5.54 per contest.
Eric Skoglund gets the start on Friday night for KC. He is 1-4 through eight starts this year with a 6.15 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. Skoglund has 35 strikeouts with 12 walks through 45.1 innings of work this year.
Rangers unable to win third straight
The Rangers couldn’t string together their third straight win on Thursday in the loss to the Royals. Texas is now 20-32 overall and 9-18 at home. The Rangers are putting up 4.19 runs per game this season while allowing 5.44 per contest.
Mike Minor toes the rubber for the Rangers this evening. He is 3-3 through nine starts this year and has a 5.59 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP. Minor has pitched a total of 48.1 innings this season and has 46 strikeouts with 11 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals are 1-5 in their last six against AL West opponents and 3-9 in Skoglund’s last 12 starts overall.
Texas
The Rangers are just 11-26 in their last 37 home games. They also are 1-4 in their last five against AL Central opponents.
Prediction:
I am going to stick with Kansas City while the Royals actually have something positive going. Skoglund certainly isn’t a great starter, but I think he can match, or better what Minor will do on the mound. Kansas City has already managed to do some winning on the road, so I think they will not be lacking in confidence tonight.
The Pick: Kansas City Royals +135
