Astros’ Morton strikes out eight in victory over Indians
Charlie Morton pitched seven innings of one-run ball in the Astros’ 4-1 defeat of the Indians on Friday.
Morton struck out eight in improving to 6-0 this season. Although he’s allowed seven homers, he’s managed to give up a total of 13 runs — 12 earned — in his nine starts. He’ll get the Indians again next time out on Thursday.
Indians’ Clevinger allows two runs in 7 2/3 to beat Royals
Mike Clevinger held the Royals to two runs in 7 2/3 innings and earned a win on Saturday. He gave up eight hits but scattered them far enough apart to get away with it. He struck out five batters and did not issue a base-on-balls in the quality start. He improves to 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA and 1.07 WHIP on the season.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 2-6 in their last eight games versus the Indians and have dropped four of their last five in Cleveland.
Cleveland
THe under is 27-9-4 in the last 40 meetings between these two teams and is 13-5 in the last 18 meetings in Cleveland.
Prediction:
I see too much value in a Houston team tonight that is red-hot. Their price isn’t bad despite playing on the road and they’ve been great when Morton starts. They’re 11-5 in his last 16 outings, are 5-2 in his last seven road starts versus a team with a winning record, and are 7-1 in his last eight outings coming off five days of rest. The Indians have yet to hit their stride yet this season so I see this as a good opportunity to jump on the defending champs.
The Pick: Houston Astros -130
