Giants’ Suarez roughed up by Reds in last start
Andrew Suarez gave up five runs in six innings in a loss to the Reds on Tuesday. Suarez gave up four of those runs in the first inning, with three of them coming off a homer by Adam Duvall. He walked one and struck out five. The poor start now ups his ERA to 4.88 with a WHIP of 1.27. He’ll look to lower both when he’s back on the mound on Tuesday, but it won’t be easy as he’s facing the tough Houston lineup
Astros’ Cole allows three runs in no-decision vs. Halos
Gerrit Cole gave up three runs over five innings along with seven strikeouts against the Angels on Tuesday in a no decision. Cole pitched well after allowing a two-run homer to Justin Upton in the first inning, but it wasn’t enough to earn a win as Jaime Barria dominated the Astros lineup on Tuesday. Even while allowing three to score over five, Cole still has an outstanding ERA of 1.75, and he owns an impressive 93/14 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He’ll be an excellent streaming option next Tuesday when he faces the Giants.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
Surprisingly, the Giants have had a lot of success recently versus the Astros. They’re 5-1 in their last six games in Houston and have won eight of 10 versus the Astros overall.
Houston
The over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings between these two teams in Houston but the under has cashed in seven of the last 10 meetings overall.
Prediction:
The Giants are 1-4 in Suarez’s last five starts and are 18-37 in their last 55 road games. The Astros, meanwhile, have won four of their last five games, are 4-1 in their last five home games and are an impressive 4-0 in Cole’s last four starts. This should get ugly tonight, which is why I’ll lay the 1.5 on the Astros via the runline.
The Pick: Houston Astros -1.5
