San Diego Padres DFS SPIN
Joe Musgrove allowed three runs — two earned — while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision against the Braves. Musgrove pitched well against the Braves despite not having his best stuff with a season-high three walks in this one. The Braves would get a run across in the second inning after some defensive miscues. With a runner on in the fourth, Dansby Swanson took Musgrove deep for a two-run shot. The 29-year-old right-hander would be done after six innings. He’ll take an excellent 2.20 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts over 45 innings into a matchup against the Giants in San Francisco on Saturday.
San Francisco Giants DFS Spin
Carlos Rodon was obliterated in Sunday night’s loss to the Cardinals, giving up eight runs on 10 hits over 3 2/3 innings of work. The southpaw struck out just three batters on the night while issuing one walk. The Cardinals jumped on him early in this one, as Paul Goldschmidt clubbed a two-run homer in the first inning and Yadier Molina added a two-run single in the frame. They tacked on another run in the third then broke it open with three more in the fourth while chasing Rodon from the game. Rodon generated seven swings and misses on 70 pitches in the game, posting a CSW of 24 percent. Even with this debacle though, he still owns a respectable 3.49 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 56/13 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings on the season. He’ll take on the Padres his next time out at home on Saturday.
Padres vs. Giants MLB BETTING PREDICTION
The Padres are a perfect 5-0 in their last five games versus a left-handed starter, are 5-1 in their last six games versus a starter with a WHIP Less than 1.15 and are 10-4 in their last 14 road games. With the way Rodon was torn apart last Sunday night in St. Louis, the Padres should be able to take a page out of the Cardinals’ playbook and attack the lefty’s penchant for pounding the strike zone with his fastball.
