Rays seek 4-game sweep
The Rays continued their hot streak on Saturday with a 5-3 win over the Angels. It was their third win over the Angels this weekend and sixth straight victory overall. Tampa is now 22-22 overall and 14-12 on the road. The Rays are putting up 4.43 runs per game this season while allowing 4.57 per contest.
Sergio Romo will start for the second straight day for the Rays. Tampa decided to have the reliever start the game yesterday and he pitched a perfect single inning before giving the ball to Ryan Yarbrough for 6.1 innings. Romo has a 4.67 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP through 17.1 innings of work.
Angels drop fifth straight
The Angels continue their struggles at home with their fifth straight loss on Saturday. The loss dropped Los Angeles to 25-21 on the season and 11-17 at home. Los Angeles is scoring 4.65 runs per game in 2018 while giving up 4.26 per contest.
Shohei Ohtani gets the start for the Angels on Sunday, looking to stop the bleeding. He has started six games this season and has a 3-1 record with a 3.58 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. He has pitched 32.2 innings and has 43 strikeouts with 13 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Tampa
The Rays have won 10 of their last 14 against a winning team, but are just 1-6 in their last seven Sunday games.
Los Angeles
The Angels have won five of Ohtani’s last six starts and they have won six of their last eight Sunday games.
Prediction:
It’s hard to see the Angels getting swept at home by the Rays, especially with this unique decision to start Romo for the second straight game. However, the Angels have proven over a chunk of the season to not be reliable at home. Tampa is also playing very well and getting good pitching from its pen. I think its worth riding the underdog while they are hot.
The Pick: Tampa Bay Rays +175
