Royals fall again
Kansas City suffered a 5-2 loss at Los Angeles on Friday. They have lost five of their last six games, scoring just five runs over the five losses. KC is 15-30 on the season, 5-15 on the road and 24-19 with the over. The Royals have Jakob Junis on the mound tonight. He is 3-4 on the season with a 5.77 ERA.
The Royals were held to just six hits in the loss on Friday. Of the six hits, only one was for extra bases. Alex Gordon hit his 13th double and scored a run. Ryan O’Hearn drove in both runs on a two-run single. Brad Keller gave up four runs in 5.2 innings of work to take his fifth loss of the season. He walked five and had three strikeouts.
Angels win in return home
Los Angeles picked up the win in their first game at home after a 9-game road trip, besting the Royals by three. They are now 21-23 on the season, 12-9 at home and 24-18 with the under. Griffin Canning is taking the mound tonight. He is 1-1 on the season with a 5.65 ERA.
Matt Harvey only pitched five innings, but gave up just two earned runs and struck out six with four walks. He earned his second win of the season. Hansel Robles got his fifth save of the season with a perfect ninth. Mike Trout had two hits, including a double, while Albert Pujols also had two hits in the victory.
MLB Betting Trends
The Royals are 20-53 in their last 73 road games and 13-40 in their last 53 against AL West opponents.
The Angels are 5-2 in their last seven home games and 12-4 in their last 16 against AL Central opponents.
Canning hasn’t been great in his three starts. He isn’t getting deep into games and has given up nine runs over three starts. Junis hasn’t been much better. He has given up nine runs over his last two starts. With both pitchers not at their best, I side with the Angels. Los Angeles has the better hitting and better bullpen. The Royals just can’t perform well on the road.
MLB Prediction: Los Angeles Angels -175
