Brewers having strong road trip
The Brewers are in the midst of a long road trip right now, but it has been a successful one. They are 5-2 through the first seven games against the Rockies and Diamondbacks. Milwaukee is now 26-18 overall and 16-9 on the road. The Brewers average just 4.00 runs per game at the plate, but allow just 3.75 per game this season.
Brent Suter is on the mound for the Brewers tonight. He has started seven games while pitching in relief in two others. Suter carries a 2-3 record with a 5.14 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. Through 42 innings on the mound, Suter has 30 strikeouts with nine walks.
Twins stumbling again
After closing in on the AL Central lead and a winning record, the Twins have dropped three of their last four games to fall back to 18-21 on the season and 8-9 at home. Minnesota is putting up 4.28 runs per game this season while allowing 4.72 per contest.
Kyle Gibson gets the start for the Twins tonight. Despite being one of the Twins’ better pitchers this season, he has just a 1-1 record through eight starts. Gibson has a 3.43 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP. He also has 50 strikeouts with 22 walks over 44.2 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers have now won eight of their last 10 road games and 13 of their last 16 games against a losing team. However, they are just 3-9 in Suter’s last 12 road starts.
Minnesota
The Twins have won Gibson’s last five Friday starts and his last seven starts in a series opener. Minnesota is also 10-4 in its last 14 games against NL Central opponents.
Prediction:
I like the way the Brewers are playing right now, but their lack of scoring is a concern for tonight. Gibson has been very good for the Twins and I think he will have another strong outing at home against this weak lineup. Suter hasn’t been terribly strong and I can see the Twins getting to him early.
The Pick: Minnesota Twins -145
