Pittsburgh Pirates Fantasy Spin
Gregory Polanco is absent from the Pirates’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Padres. It looks to be nothing more than a routine day of rest against Padres’ left-hander Joey Lucchesi. Melky Cabrera is starting in right field for the Pirates and batting third.
San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Ian Kinsler hit a go-ahead, three-run home run Thursday to lead the Padres to a 4-3 win over the Pirates. The Bucs held a thin 2-1 lead in the sixth inning before Kinsler stepped to the plate with two runners on and two outs. That lead evaporated on one swing as Kinsler walloped a Richard Rodriguez delivery to left, giving the Padres a margin they wouldn’t yield. It was a nice moment and could possibly be a catalyst for better days ahead for the 36-year-old, but he hasn’t had many nice moments to this point — through Thursday, Kinsler is hitting just .175/.233/.342 and has been relegated to a backup job for the youthful Padres
