Cubs hope end avoid losing streak

Chicago is coming off a pair of losses at Cincinnati coming into this series. Despite the losses, they are 6-3 over their last nine. The Cubs are 25-16 on the season, 10-10 on the road and 21-20 with the over. Cole Hamels is getting the start for Chicago tonight. He is 3-0 on the season with a 3.08 ERA.

The Cubs are strong on offense, averaging 5.27 runs per game this season while hitting .252 at the plate. On the mound, Chicago has a 3.46 team ERA and a 1.29 team WHIP. The Cubs have four players approaching 30 RBI. Javier Baez is leading the way with 15 doubles, 11 home runs and 29 RBI. Anthony Rizzo has seven doubles, 10 homers and 29 RBI. He is questionable to play tonight due to a back injury.

Nationals win back-to-back

Washington is coming off back-to-back wins at home over the Nationals. It is their first 2-game win streak since April 18 and 19. Washington is 18-25 on the season, 9-12 at home and 21-19 with the over. Max Scherzer gets the start for the Nationals tonight. He is 2-4 on the season with a 3.64 ERA.

The Nationals are putting up 4.42 runs per game this season while hitting .238 as a team. On the mound, Washington has a 4.75 team ERA and a 1.37 team WHIP. Juan Soto has been leading the team with six home runs and 24 RBI while Anthony Rendon has 15 doubles, six home runs and 21 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

The Cubs are 8-2 in their last 10 games following a loss and 8-3 in their last 11 road games.

The Nationals are 1-7 in their last eight against NL Central opponents and 1-5 in Scherzer’s last six starts.

Scherzer hasn’t quite been the lockdown pitcher we usually remember, but he has still be pretty strong and gets deep into games. However, he doesn’t have much hitting to back him up. The Cubs definitely have the hitting and Hamels also has been pretty good on the mound. He also gets deep into games with limited damage. Due to the better hitting, I will go with the Cubs on the road.

MLB Prediction: Chicago Cubs +140
