Pirates bounce back

Pittsburgh dropped the series opener on Monday, 9-3, but bounced back with a 6-2 win on Tuesday in Arizona. The Pirates are 21-18 on the season, 12-9 on the road and 20-19 with the over. Pittsburgh has Chris Archer taking the mound today. He is 1-2 on the season with a 4.33 ERA.

Tuesday’s game saw Joe Musgrove pitch very well. He went seven innings and allowed just one hit with five strikeouts to move to 2-4 on the season. Josh Bell had two home runs and drove in four runs for the Pirates. He has 12 home runs on the season. Starling Marte and Melky Cabrera each had three hits for Pittsburgh as well, while Cole Tucker drove in two runs.

Diamondbacks struggling

Arizona lost for the fourth time in five games, suffering the 6-2 loss on Tuesday. Arizona is now 23-20 on the season, 9-11 at home and 22-19 with the over. The D’Backs will have Zack Greinke taking the mound today. He is 5-1 on the season with a 3.16 ERA.

The Diamondbacks struggled at the plate on Tuesday, amassing just four hits. Carson Kelly had the lone extra-base hit when he hit his third home run of the season. Adam Jones drove in the other run for Arizona in the loss. Luke Weaver took the loss, giving up three runs over six innings with seven hits and five strikeouts. He is now 3-2 on the season.

MLB Betting Trends

Pittsburgh

The Pirates have won four of their last five road games, but they are just 1-6 in Archer’s last seven road starts.

Arizona

The Diamondbacks are 6-2 in Greinke’s last eight starts and 4-1 in his last five home starts.

Prediction:

Archer is coming off the DL today. He hasn’t pitched since April 26, when he gave up six runs over four innings to the Dodgers. He has given up at least three runs in three of his five starts. Greinke has been rolling. He has given up one run or less in four of his last five starts. He also has went at least six innings in all but one start this season. Greinke is much more reliable than Archer, so I would expect Arizona to be able to win the rubber match at home.

MLB Prediction: Arizona Diamondbacks -155
