Blue Jays’ Garcia allows two runs in five innings in last start
Jaime Garcia allowed two runs — one earned — in five innings and did not factor into the decision against the Mariners on Wednesday. He surrendered only three hits but issued five walks against three punchouts on the evening. He fell behind 2-0 but the Jays’ bats came back to win the game in the late innings. Garcia had been struggling badly in his recent starts prior to this one, so his fantasy owners were happy to see him fare better today. He is 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA in seven starts. He has 35 strikeouts and 18 walks in 35 innings pitched.
Mets’ Syndergaard walks four in no decision vs. Rockies
Noah Syndergaard allowed two runs over six innings in a no decision against the Rockies on Sunday. Syndergaard didn’t have his best command in this one, as he gave up four walks to go along with six hits. He did strike out five, and outside of a solo homer to Ian Desmond, he was able to keep the Colorado hitters at bay for most of the game. He now has 54 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings, and the ERA lowers to 3.05. He’s back on the mound on Saturday when Syndergaard and the Mets travel to Philadelphia.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays have dropped all five of their last five meetings with the Mets in New York.
New York
The Mets have lost nine of their last 11 games and are 0-6 in their last six home games.
Prediction:
The Blue Jays see a significant ballpark drop coming from Rogers Centre going to Citi Field and they’re facing the Mets’ ace. The under looks like a great play here. The under is 5-0 in the last five meetings between these two teams in New York and is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams overall. The under is also 4-0 in Syndergaard’s last four home starts and is 12-2-2 in his last 16 outings when facing an opponent that owns a winning record.
The Pick: Blue Jays/Mets under 7.5
