Texas struggling on offense
The Rangers have dropped two straight to Houston coming into this series and have been held to just one run in their last three. Texas is now 16-26 overall and 9-10 on the road. The Rangers are scoring only 3.88 runs per game while allowing 5.33 per contest.
Mike Minor gets the start for the Rangers tonight. He is 3-2 through seven starts with a 4.73 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. He has pitched a total of 40 innings this season and has 32 strikeouts with nine walks.
Mariners can’t win consistently
The Mariners are coming off a 1-0 win at Minnesota on Monday, but they have alternated wins and losses over their last 13 games. Seattle is now 23-17 overall and 8-8 at home. The Mariners are putting up 4.60 runs per game this season while allowing 4.50 per contest.
Mike Leake gets the start for the Mariners on Tuesday night. Leake has started in eight games and he has a 4-3 record with a 5.72 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP. He has pitched a total of 45.2 innings and has a total of 32 strikeouts with 16 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are 2-5 in their last seven road games and 1-5 in their last six games against a winning team.
Seattle
The Mariners have won six of their last seven Tuesday games and seven of their last 10 series openers.
Prediction:
Eventually Seattle has to kick that trend of a win and then a loss. I think it will happen tonight as the Rangers aren’t a team that has a lot to offer and Minor isn’t a dominating pitcher that will overwhelm the Mariners. Leake certainly isn’t dominant either, but he has the better lineup behind him and he’s facing a team that hasn’t scored more than a run in their last three games.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners -130
