Brewers’ Guerra strikes out nine in loss to Indians
Junior Guerra scattered six hits and four runs over five innings Wednesday in the Brewers’ loss to the Indians. Guerra walked two and struck out nine while throwing 59 of his 99 pitches for strikes. The right-hander cruised through his first three innings but came undone in the fourth, allowing four runs including three on a home run by Tyler Naquin.
The nine strikeouts were a season-high for Guerra, who has now lost three straight after going undefeated in his first three starts. The veteran will take a respectable 3.09 ERA into his next outing Monday at Arizona.
Diamondbacks’ Corbin erratic in no-decision vs. Dodgers
Patrick Corbin allowed one earned run, three hits and four walks with seven strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision Wednesday on the road against the Dodgers.
Corbin had some rare control issues in this one, managing to throw just 50 of his 96 pitches for strikes. He also uncorked a wild pitch, too. Still, he allowed just one earned run and his ERA remains at a brilliant 2.12. He’ll look to tighten up on his location when he faces Junior Guerra and the visiting Brewers on Monday to kick off a two-start week.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers are just 2-6 in their last eight games against the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are winless in Corbin’s last four starts versus the Brewers.
Prediction:
The Diamondbacks are having a rough go of it but this is still a very good team that is capable of avoiding a deep funk. Now that the Nationals have finally left the desert, perhaps the D-Backs can get back to winning. The Brewers are 1-4 in Guerra’s last five road starts, are 3-7 in his last 10 starts overall, and are 0-4 in his last four outings when facing a team with a winning record. The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, are 12-5 in Corbin’s last 17 starts and have won 16 of his last 21 home outings as well.
The Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -150
