Rangers not putting up runs
Despite managing to split the first two games in this series, Texas has only scored 1 run in each of the two games. They have been held to 1 run in four of their last eight outings. Texas is now 16-25 overall and 9-9 on the road. The Rangers are averaging 3.95 runs per game while allowing 5.32 per contest.
Matt Moore will get the start for the Rangers today. He is 1-4 through seven starts and eight pitching appearances in 2018. Moore carries a 7.71 ERA with a 1.91 WHIP. He has pitched 35 innings and has 23 strikeouts with 15 walks.
Astros bats go silent
The Astros bounced back from their 1-0 loss on Friday to earn a 6-1 victory on Saturday. They have won four of their last five games coming into today. Houston is now 25-16 overall and 11-10 at home. The Astros are putting up 4.78 runs per game while allowing 2.68 per contest.
Dallas Keuchel will start for the Astros on Sunday. He has just a 2-5 record through eight starts. Keuchel has a 3.53 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP. He has pitched 51 innings this year and has 37 strikeouts with 14 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers have lost 15 of their last 20 Sunday games and eight of their last 11 against a left-handed starter.
Houston
The Astros have won 23 of their last 32 AL West games and 16 of Keuchel’s last 22 starts against AL West opponents.
Prediction:
Houston has the best pitching in baseball and it has been on display this weekend. Keuchel hasn’t gotten the results he’s been looking for in terms of wins and losses, but his stats are still pretty strong. I think he will be able to continue what Houston has done on the mound the last two days. The big concern is whether Houston’s bats will do enough damage to win by multiple runs. I think the Astros can get to Moore, who has been consistent at giving up multiple runs.
The Pick: Houston Astros -1.5 (-145)
