White Sox Giolito battered by Pirates in last start
Lucas Giolito was touched up for four runs on seven hits and two walks over just four innings Tuesday against the Pirates. Giolito threw a whopping 98 pitches over his four innings of work. The young right-hander had pitched well his last time out in St. Louis, but tonight’s effort was another step backward. It shows how poorly Giolito’s season has gone that his ERA barely went up to 7.25 after this one.
Cubs' Hendricks works eight efficient innings vs. Marlins?
Kyle Hendricks scattered two runs on six hits over eight innings Monday in a win over the Marlins. Hendricks issued zero walks and struck out three, needing just 98 pitches to complete eight frames behind a big Chicago lead. The runs against him came on a groundout in the fifth inning and a Cameron Maybin RBI single in the top of the seventh. Hendricks will carry a 3.02 ERA and 1.03 WHIP into his next start at home against the White Sox.

Chicago White Sox
The White Sox are 1-6 in their last seven games in Chicago and are winless at 0-5 in their last five games versus the Cubs overall.
The over is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams but the under is 16-6-4 in the last 26 meetings in Chicago.
I whiffed on the under yesterday for this matchup but I'm actually going back to the well today. The under is 5-0-1 in Giolito's last six road starts, is 7-2-1 in his last 10 starts overall, and is 5-0 in his last five outings when he pitches the third game of a series. The under is also 11-4 in Hendricks' last 15 starts, is 8-2 in his last 10 interleague starts, and is 9-4-1 in his last 14 outings coming off five days of rest.
The Pick: White Sox/Cubs under
