White Sox Giolito battered by Pirates in last start
Lucas Giolito was touched up for four runs on seven hits and two walks over just four innings Tuesday against the Pirates. Giolito threw a whopping 98 pitches over his four innings of work. The young right-hander had pitched well his last time out in St. Louis, but tonight’s effort was another step backward. It shows how poorly Giolito’s season has gone that his ERA barely went up to 7.25 after this one.
Cubs’ Hendricks works eight efficient innings vs. Marlins?
Kyle Hendricks scattered two runs on six hits over eight innings Monday in a win over the Marlins. Hendricks issued zero walks and struck out three, needing just 98 pitches to complete eight frames behind a big Chicago lead. The runs against him came on a groundout in the fifth inning and a Cameron Maybin RBI single in the top of the seventh. Hendricks will carry a 3.02 ERA and 1.03 WHIP into his next start at home against the White Sox.
