A’s Triggs strikes out nine Orioles over seven innings
Andrew Triggs struck out nine over seven innings, limiting the Orioles to one run in a 2-1 win Sunday. Triggs yielded just two hits and didn’t walk a batter in his seven innings, allowing only a Pedro Alvarez solo homer in the second inning. Outside of two poor outings, Triggs has been very good this year, and even with the bad starts mixed in he’s got a 4.41 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in seven appearances. Triggs has a tough test on the books for Saturday when the A’s visit the Yankees in New York.
Yankees’ German throws six no-hit innings vs. Indians
Domingo German threw six no-hit scoreless innings on Sunday in a no decision against the Indians. German did walk two, but he also struck out nine and needed just 84 pitches to get through the six innings. He left with the game tied at 0-0, and Aaron Boone likely didn’t want to risk German facing the lineup for the third time. Still, a very impressive start for the 25-year-old right-hander as he looks to solidify a spot in the rotation. He doesn’t have a next scheduled start as of yet, but he likely gets the nod on Saturday when the Yankees take on the Athletics.
MLB Betting Trends
Oakland
The A’s are now a perfect 5-0 in the last five meetings with the Yankees and are 5-2 in their last seven games in New York.
New York
The Yankees are 11-1 in their last 12 games after scoring five runs or more in their previous contest and are 19-7 in their last 26 games coming off a loss.
Prediction:
I see this being another high-scoring game between these two teams. The over is 6-1 in Triggs’ last seven road starts, is 9-3 in his last 12 outings overall, and is 5-1 in his last six starts versus American League East competition. On the other side, the over is 20-8 in the Yankees’ last 28 home games versus a right-handed starter and 9-2 in their last 11 games following a loss.
The Pick: A’s/Yankees over 9
