Twins making a move
The Twins avoided back-to-back losses on Friday with a 5-4 win at Los Angeles. They have now won six of their last seven games to get within a game of the AL Central lead. Minnesota comes into this game 16-18 overall and 9-11 on the road. The Twins are putting up 4.47 runs per game this season while allowing 5.00 runs per contest.
Kyle Gibson gets the start for the Twins on Saturday night. He is just 1-1 through seven starts, but has only a 3.49 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Gibson has pitched a total of 38.2 innings and has 44 strikeouts with 18 walks.
Angels inch toward .500 at home
The Angels looked like they were moving toward .500 at home, but Friday’s loss snapped a four-game win streak on their turf. Los Angeles is now 23-15 overall and 9-11 on the road. Los Angeles is putting up 5.18 runs per contest and is giving up 4.26 runs per contest.
Nick Tropeano gets the start for the Angels tonight. He has started four games this year and is 1-2 with a 3.42 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. Tropeano has pitched a total of 23.2 innings this year and has 20 strikeouts with nine walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins have won six of their last seven on the road and four of their last five after a win. They also have won 12 of Gibson’s last 15 starts.
Los Angeles
The Angels have won 16 of their last 21 games against a team with a losing record, but they are just 2-5 in Tropeano’s last seven starts against a losing team.
Prediction:
While the Angels seem better on paper, their woes at home don’t seem to be going away. They also face a tough pitcher today in Gibson. Though he doesn’t have overwhelming stuff, Gibson has been able to work his way through some good lineups this season. I think Gibson gives the Twins a great chance to win and I will take Minnesota to get the upset.
The Pick: Minnesota Twins +115
