Washington Nationals Fantasy Spin
Max Scherzer held the Brewers to two runs — one earned — over six innings in a no-decision Monday. Scherzer struck out 10 tonight. His numbers still aren’t nearly what was expected, but he’s strung together three nice starts in a row against quality offenses. With a 72/8 K/BB ratio and four homers allowed in 52 1/3 innings, his FIP is down around 2.00, even as his ERA stands at 3.78.
Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Joc Pederson hit two solo homers Friday against the Nationals, giving him 12 bombs for the year. Pederson is batting leadoff in an NL lineup and sitting against lefties, so those 12 homers have come with just 20 RBI. Still, it’s nothing new for him; he has three 25-homer seasons under his belt, but he’s never driven in more than 68 runs.
MLB Betting Trends
Washington
The Nationals are 1-5 in their last six road games and are 1-5 in their last six games overall.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers have won four of their last five games overall and are 4-0 in Walker Buehler’s last four home starts.
Prediction:
It’s tempting to take the Nationals as an underdog with Scherzer on the mound but there’s a reason why Washington is receiving plus odds tonight from oddsmakers. The Nats have lost all five of Scherzer’s last five starts, as he’s received little run support so far this year. The better bet is the under, which is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams at Dodger Stadium and is 10-4-1 in the last 15 meetings between the Nationals and Dodgers overall. Yes, Los Angeles has a dangerous lineup. That said, Scherzer is still in top form and given how much Washington’s offense has struggled of late, I’m taking the under in what has been a low-scoring series thus far.
The Pick: Nationals/Dodgers UNDER 7
