Public Betting Trends
According to our MLB Public Betting Chart page, 71% of the betting tickets are on the Phillies to beat the Royals on the moneyline.
Philadelphia Phillies Fantasy Spin
Bryce Harper singled and drew three walks Friday against the Royals. The Royals understandably decided to think twice about letting Harper beat them. His teammates were willing to pick up the slack, though. Harper is hitting just .237 so far with an elevated strikeout rate, but he’s put up seven homers and 25 RBI over 37 games with a .387 on-base percentage.
Kansas City Royals Fantasy Spin
Alex Gordon went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI in Friday’s win over the Phillies. It was his fifth career multi-homer game. He also reached his 1,500th career hit. The 35-year-old Gordon has apparently located the fountain of youth because he’s thriving with a .291/.381/.545 batting line, with eight home runs, 30 RBI, and 25 runs scored through 36 games.
MLB Betting Trends
The Phillies are a perfect 5-0 in their last five games following a loss.
The Royals are just 12-25 in their last 37 games despite winning last night.
While I did think the Phillies offense would have a better showing last night versus Homer Bailey, tonight should offer more runs. The over is 4-1-2 in Brad Keller’s last seven home starts and is 13-5-1 in the Royals’ last 19 home games. Meanwhile, the over is 5-1-1 in Zack Eflin’s last seven road starts and cashed in all four of his last four outings when he’s coming off five days of rest. As they displayed last night, the Royals are better with the bats than most think and it’s unlikely the Phillies’ potent offense gets held in check two nights in a row by below-average pitching.
