Red Sox’ Sale strikes out 12 over seven vs. Rangers
Chris Sale struck out 12 over seven innings, allowing one run, in a 6-1 win over the Rangers on Sunday. Sale gave up just four hits and a walk, with only a Ryan Rua solo homer in the seventh inning counting against him. He’s now given up one or zero runs in six of his eight starts. The southpaw owns a 2.02 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 63/11 K/BB ratio over 49 innings, and he’ll go to work on the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Blue Jays’ Sanchez allows four runs in 3 2/3 vs. Rays
Aaron Sanchez let in four runs — two earned — in 3 2/3 innings and was charged with a loss to the Rays on Saturday. He issued four walks, fanned three batters and allowed five hits in the brief start. The walks have been a major problem all year — he now has 22 walks and 28 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings. He falls to 2-3 with a 4.14 ERA on the season after seven starts.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are 21-8 in their last 29 games in Toronto and are 14-6 in their last 20 games overall.
Toronto
The over is 4-0 in Stroman’s last four home starts versus the Red Sox and is 5-1 in his last six outings versus Boston overall.
Prediction:
With Sale on the mound for the Red Sox the inclination is to go with the under tonight. That said, as we saw last night with the Mariners dropping a nine spot on the home team, this isn’t the park to be targeting the under. The over is 5-2-1 in Stroman’s last eight starts against the rest of the American League East and is 5-2-1 is last eight outings versus a team with a winning record. Hopefully Toronto can pick up a few runs to contribute to the over tonight.
The Pick: Red Sox/Blue Jays over 8.5
