Red Sox' Sale strikes out 12 over seven vs. Rangers
Chris Sale struck out 12 over seven innings, allowing one run, in a 6-1 win over the Rangers on Sunday. Sale gave up just four hits and a walk, with only a Ryan Rua solo homer in the seventh inning counting against him. He's now given up one or zero runs in six of his eight starts. The southpaw owns a 2.02 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 63/11 K/BB ratio over 49 innings, and he'll go to work on the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Blue Jays' Sanchez allows four runs in 3 2/3 vs. Rays
Aaron Sanchez let in four runs -- two earned -- in 3 2/3 innings and was charged with a loss to the Rays on Saturday. He issued four walks, fanned three batters and allowed five hits in the brief start. The walks have been a major problem all year -- he now has 22 walks and 28 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings. He falls to 2-3 with a 4.14 ERA on the season after seven starts.
MLB Betting Trends
The Red Sox are 21-8 in their last 29 games in Toronto and are 14-6 in their last 20 games overall.
The over is 4-0 in Stroman's last four home starts versus the Red Sox and is 5-1 in his last six outings versus Boston overall.
With Sale on the mound for the Red Sox the inclination is to go with the under tonight. That said, as we saw last night with the Mariners dropping a nine spot on the home team, this isn't the park to be targeting the under. The over is 5-2-1 in Stroman's last eight starts against the rest of the American League East and is 5-2-1 is last eight outings versus a team with a winning record. Hopefully Toronto can pick up a few runs to contribute to the over tonight.
The Pick: Red Sox/Blue Jays over 8.5
