Tigers pounded by Angels
Detroit is coming off a 13-0 thrashing from the Angels at home on Thursday. The Tigers have alternated wins and losses over their last nine games. Detroit is now 16-18 on the season, 7-10 on the road and 19-15 with the under. The Tigers have Tyson Ross getting the start tonight. He is 1-4 on the season with a 5.34 ERA.
The Tigers are near last in the league in most hitting stats. They rank 29th in runs per game at 3.56 and 24th in batting average at .230. They also have just 25 home runs as a team, which ranks 29th. On the mound, the Tigers have a 4.55 team ERA and a 1.35 team WHIP. Miguel Cabrera is leading the team with a .303 average, but he has just one home run with 14 RBI. Niko Goodrum has three home runs, nine doubles and 11 RBI.
Twins dominate Jays
Minnesota had an impressive three-game sweep at Toronto this week, winning the three games by a combined score of 20-1. The Twins are now 23-12 on the season, 11-5 at home and 19-16 with the over. Minnesota has Jake Odorizzi getting the start today. He is 4-2 on the year with a 2.78 ERA.
The Twins are one of the top-hitting teams in MLB right now. They are averaging 5.31 runs per game with a .261 average and a .822 OPS. On the mound, the Twins have a solid 3.80 team ERA and a 1.25 team WHIP. Eddie Rosario is leading the team with 13 home runs and 31 RBI while Jorge Polanco is hitting .344 with seven home runs, 11 doubles, four triples and 14 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are 7-1 in their last eight after scoring two runs or less in their previous game, but just 20-45 in their last 65 road games.
Minnesota
The Twins have won four straight following a day off and 19 of their last 26 AL Central games.
Prediction:
The Tigers have been awfully good at bouncing back from losses lately, but I think tonight will see them experience a losing streak once again. Odorizzi has pitched back-to-back scoreless outings and has given up just three earned runs over his last 24.1 innings. That doesn’t bode well for a Detroit team that is among the worst in the league in producing runs. Tyson Ross also doesn’t have very impressive numbers on the mound, so I can see the Twins getting out to a fast start.
MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins -230
