Nationals’ Roark allows three runs in loss to Phillies
Tanner Roark was charged with a loss after surrendering three runs in 6 1/3 innings against the Phillies on Saturday. He teed up a two-run gopherball to Rhys Hoskins in the first inning en route to his third loss of the season. He had his strikeout pitch fine tuned, fanning nine batters but he also walked three and allowed six total hits. Roark will take a nice 3.65 ERA and 1.08 WHIP into his next start against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
Diamondbacks’ Greinke takes no-decision vs. Astros
Zack Greinke allowed just one earned run, five hits and two walks with five strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Astros.
Greinke threw 70 of his 102 pitches for strikes, and his only mistake was a solo homer served up to George Springer in the fifth inning. He has managed just two quality starts in seven outings this season, struggling to pitch up to his capabilities. He faces a tough matchup on Friday against Max Scherzer and the Nationals.
